The Man who fell to Earth

Image
11th January 2016. Is a sad day, a day when this world lost a true Legend one of the greats! One of my personal heroes passed away - The Man who fell to Earth has left this planet. R.I.P David Bowie.... So this blog is totally dedicated to the Original Chameleon - taking a look at his looks and personas over the decades. Born David Robert Jones on the 8th of January 1947, in Brixton South London, his interest in music started very early, though the 1960s if a few bands were formed but any attempts to musical success were falling flat. Space Oddity, the now iconic Bowie song reached number 5 in the Uk charts in July 1969 - England had a new star twinkling star... and the first Bowie persona,  Major Tom - An Astronaut that has lost contact with Earth - he will be revisited in the 80s track 'Ashes to Ashes ' The couple of years that followed saw months of experimentation. The album the Man that sold the world (covered later by Nirvana) was released - there was a c...

Xmas time is Party Time!

Image
Where did 2015 go? Can you believe we are less than 5 weeks away to Christmas - well we are! This is usually the time when we start with our festivities dilemmas - putting together your party season looks. So we take a look on the high street, we take a look online, and sometimes, just sometimes we find just what we are looking for. After that it is what make-up,... and then it is 'What am I gonna do with my hair?!?' Because let's face it you can have the dress, the shoes the make-up but if that hair is not looking right the whole look falls apart! So here at HCC we decided to round up for you the best and most current party hair for the coming season: Whether it's a red carpet, a black-tie event or you just really want to make a glamorous entrance nothing does that trick better than some old hollywood waves: but while people think that this style works only with long hair, it can look just as great with shorter bobs and mid-lengths - where you wil...

Autumn 2015 hair trends

Image
So we have tried to push the idea for as long as we could, but Autumn is very much clearly here and there is no turning back! At least we got the Spookiness of Halloween to look forward to ... but as the most terrifying night of the year gets closer we need to make sure our locks do not take a scary shape past the 31st of October.... Here's a round up of the trends to keep you Glam not Ghoul this Autumn... If you have been toying with the idea of a Fringe - this is the time to do it! - Apart from the fact that it is in fashion, Autumn is a good time for the fringe as unlike in Summer the chance of a sweaty forehead is far less likely, and it will keep your face a wee bit warmer from those gusty winds blowing leaves all over the place.... But the must have fringe is a lot more deconstructed than the super structured we have had in previous years.. it is a long fringe definitely past the eye-brows. It is a peek-a-boo fringe - it is choppy and a bit dishevelled, it is pa...

A proper French Twist

Image
We have had so many hairstyles through the years some with success....... others a bit less... but one hairstyle that has been with us for a very very long time is the French Twist... and it is getting a bit of a comeback! Somehow for me when I think of a French Twist or a French Roll as I tend to prefer calling it, I think: Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany's - which in essence is actually a variant of it with a high bun. Being a relatively simple hairstyle there are many ways of doing a french roll, giving you a variety of results and executions.. Due to popular culture, we tend to attribute the style of the 1960s, but in reality the actual hairstyles has been with us much before that..... errm,...centuries before infact, since Ancient Greece as shown on this image of a Muse from a vase dating back to the 4th century B.C. But let's talk proper French Twist, how do you do that? To get a traditional French Roll one would need to brush their hair out fi...
