The 4 Winter Hair Colours you are gonna want!

Image
As you throw away that pumpkin you so meticulously carved for Halloween you know you are in full swing winter... and just as much as that vegetable has clearly gone by its expiry date, you want to make sure the same thing does not happen with your hair! But fear not as we got our annual round-up of all the cool hair colours and various hues that will make you look HOT to challenge the coldest of winters! The Money-piece Ok, so this has been around for a while and at Hair Colour Studio it has been a staple probably even before it actually was a thing - bottom line - we love it! In a nutshell, a lighter hue is placed at the front framing the face which helps to give more luminosity to the skin. The advantage of the money-piece is that of course it makes it quite low-maintenance since as it grows it will still look good with roots. You can also have it as subtle or dramatic as you please between full on balayage or tiny baby lights.   70's blonde It's official silver and platinu...

Lockdown hair care - it's not too late!

Image
So a whole year has passed since we had our first lockdown, and what a roller coaster of emotions that has been!   We started with thinking it was a 3 week break - and we were all for it!.... little did we know! Just like us our hair has been faced with all kinds of changes and the need to adapt to new situations. Lockdown found us dealing with our hair a little less. Our plenty- a- pyjama days meant we were washing our hair less, which for people who do not have a greasy disposition that is quite ok as it gives the hair time to get some of the natural oils it normally (may not) get. Of course the flip-side to this is if you have greasy hair naturally, keeping the sebum glands to behave is nearly impossible, so if you really wanted to be lazy with it but still needed to get on that dreaded zoom call it was a hat or a scarf or a band day. One thing lockdowns definitely gave us was a lot of time on our hands, and it looks as though a lot of you did put that time to good us...

Which Hair Trend will you choose when salons re-open?

Image
It's a tough one at the moment, how are you holding up?.... and how are your tresses doing? It may sound like a bit of a cliche - but yes things are gonna get much better - hopefully very soon. At Hair Colour Studio we are determined to stay focused, so with that in mind we were not gonna let the hair trends pass us by like that just because we are currently socially limited! So as is customary (though perhaps about a month later than usual) we have put together the best Hair Colour Trends you should be getting excited about for the new year! Warm Tones This is a trend that is truly born out of a pandemic!  As this year our visits to the salon have been limited our colours were not at their tip-top freshest all the time, so some colours faded, some did not get re-freshed as often as we would have liked. All this gives way to our natural red tones to come through (the darker the hair the more red tones one will have) of course we didn't have much more choice than embracing them ...

Lockdown 2.0 - Care to Hair the Natural way?

Image
November 2020, and we are not quite where we would like to be! Lockdown version 2.0 was hardly on our Xmas wish-list, and abiding by the rules certainly is not easy but we are all doing our best to pull through and get rid of this second wave. ...and talking about waves, with Hair Salons closed for the next few weeks, lockdown does present the perfect opportunity to reconcile with your natural texture.  But with most of us having to deal with zoom calls on a regular basis while working from home, how can you make sure you are more curly goddess than Guurl what's zat?  Curls and natural texture in general need to be handled as minimally as possible during styling to reduce frizz. Gentle scrunch drying is a good way to do it, but your best friend should most certainly be the diffuser . The Diffuser really is an under-rated piece of technology - the bowl-shaped attachment disperses the air flow from the hair dryer, helping dry your curls more evenly and gently, helping the ...

Autumn 2020: Colour trends round up.

Image
It's nothing new really, we all of a sudden start scrambling for the fluffy jumpers, start with a light jacket, maybe a silk scarf?  Next thing you know the central heating is going up and oh look maybe it's time to dig out the puffa jacket afterall! Autumn always seems to hit us when we least expect it, but as much as I love the warm weather and all things summer, as a Colourist there isn't a more exciting time than Autumn, and that is all thanks to the exciting hues that come with the season. Of course warm tones always prevail during the season (which is probably why I personally enjoy it so much) and most of us statistically really do like to have a bit of a change when the seasons change, but our favourite time for a change is in fact around these autumn months. So let's get the ball rolling on the Autumn shades that will tickle your fancy this year! But we will start with the boring one! Block Brown As up-beat as we are, of course these Corona-times had to rear i...

Post-Lockdown: What to expect when we re-open.

Image
Already a month has passed since we were eagerly awaiting the UK governments extensive 50-page plan for easing the lockdown, us very much like most people thought - shops are re-opening mid-June that is ok... let's get ready for this. Sadly that notion was destroyed the day after by Dominic Raab who explained that hair salons are not shops and re-opening will be in phase 3 and that is July. With Dentists opening this week it is a bit' insult to injury' - but we will leave that whole argument! So while we hope that we will be opening in July here are some things that will change, and some new measures we will be implementing. Of course at Hair Colour Studio we are quite lucky that our regular running of the salon is already in-line with making the salon a safe space post-lockdown: We always worked strictly by appointments only - so no walk-ins. We only have one-to-one services so you know your stylist will be with you for all your service. Being a s...
