Oscars 2018: The looks we loved.

We pretty much do this every year....

We take a look at the best looks at the Oscars.

Firstly I am glad finally we are out of the whole #metoo drama and we get some colours back on the red carpet. As much as Black in general is probably one of my favourite colours (that's for clothes not hair!) - It's always nice to have a good mix on the red carpet of any event.

Here's our favourite looks this year:

Margot Robbie looks absolutely statuesque in this beautiful floor length Chanel gown, the hair kept simple with this side wave is the way to go as there is enough going on with the dress. As is the lack of neck jewellery to let the garment do the talking, while leaving the bling with the little bag. Spot On.

Gorgeous pic above with Greta Gerwig in Rodarte and THAT hair!, which is just so undeniably cool and apt for an award ceremony like the Oscars. Gerwig with her directral debut of Ladybird had a stellar year, and this was very much the culmination - gaining not just one but 2 nominations.
She is pictured here with young Timothee Chalamat in Berluti, the star from Call me by Your Name - a tremendous story of first love with gorgeous scenery and a refreshing outlook of love irrespective of gender. The movie won best adapted screenplay.

Ever the lady ,.... (but that's why we love her) Jennifer Lawrence was certainly sparkly in this Dior Dress. The wavy messy hair complemented her contouring colour too.

How does she do it? every year she comes, she slays. Really it doesn't matter how she does it.... this is just THE WAY TO DO IT! - serious veteran at the game Jane Fonda looks regal in this Balmain couture number. The hair is just text book mature lady glamour - done right, though we love her with a floppy fringe.

We are not always fans of Nicole Kidman's looks on the red carpet, been quite safe in recent years - But she is no novice and when she wants to work a look she knows how to! and  this look? - we are just living for it,  gorgeous from head to toe - and we mean toe - those shoes are everything courtesy of Louboutins, while the gorgeous blue hue dress is from Armani Prive'. The sculpted hair is on point too.

A millenial's take on Old Hollywood glamour, but done tastefully. Allison Williams (Marni from Girls for most of us) dazzled in this number. Get Out the nominated movie in which she starred  with british actor Daniel Kaluuya is a must watch if you are into Scary, Thriller movies with a hefty dose of black humour. Probably one of our favourites last year!

This is probably our favourite look on the Red Carpet Zendaya looking gorgeous in the flowy Giambattista Valli dress, while her Hair in a top knot makes her instantly high fashion. There is definitely nothing Disney about this look! 10/10

Now usually we would feature a Kardashian/Jenner over how badly they would have got a look... or the lack of clothing in general, and as much as there is a good amount of flesh on show here - this is done really well. We do believe that Kendall is truly the family member with some real style - coz this is just gorgeous. The dress from Redemption just works so well with the slick bob and the statement earrings too.
So you do not see much short dresses at the Oscars, and it is far more about Old Hollywood glamour etc etc, but Kendall is a young It girl who obviously also knows how to work the media. This is a gamble that has most certainly paid-off!

That's a wrap for anther year!

Now it's time to take a look at the winning movie as we have not had the chance!

The shape of Water which was released on Valentine's day here in the Uk, is another unconventional lovestorym this time from Guillermo De Toro.

Elisa played by Sally Hawkins is a mute isolated woman who works in a high security lab in the 60s. She discovers that the lab holds a scaled creature from South America that lives in a water tank.....
we won't throw any spoilers... go watch it!

Till next year Oscars!
